Hello, this is Nohproblem. Today, we’re thrilled to announce the launch of the Canadian Immigration New Brunswick Critical Worker Pilot Program. Let’s delve into the details of this new immigration pilot program together.

Overview

The New Brunswick Critical Worker Pilot Program is a five-year initiative designed to address critical workforce shortages across various sectors and regions of the province. Focused on attracting skilled workers, the program aims to fill occupations that are challenging to staff in New Brunswick.

New Brunswick Critical Worker Pilot Program Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this employer-led program, applicants must meet certain criteria, including:

1. Age: 19-55 years old

2. Language: CLB 4 or above

3. Education: High school or above

4. Experience: 1,560 hours of work experience within the last 5 years

5. Intent to live in New Brunswick: Applicants must express their intention to reside in the province.

Applicants need a valid job offer from an eligible employer to be nominated by the Government of New Brunswick, with competitive wages and PR documents prepared in advance.

*Note: Remote work is accepted, but the employer must be based in New Brunswick, and the applicant must currently live in the province for at least 12 months prior to applying.*

Critical Worker Pilot Program Eligible Employer Requirements

Participating employers must meet specific requirements, including:

1. Participation in ONB immigration’s international recruitment mission within the past two years

2. Demonstrated track record of international worker immigration in the past three years

3. Completion of a New Brunswick Human Resource Support Services (HRSS) assessment

4. Adherence to all reporting requirements during the pilot program

5. Compliance with provincial and federal immigration programs and employment standards

*Highlight: Applications without support from a New Brunswick employer will not be considered.*

Critical Worker Pilot Program Application Process

The application process involves two key steps, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience for both employers and applicants.

1. Applying for a Nomination Certificate:

Ready to take the next step? You’re eligible to apply for a Nomination Certificate if you meet all the criteria and selection requirements. Don’t forget to secure the backing of an employer in New Brunswick who’s filled out and signed the Employer Information Form (NBPNP-004). Keep in mind, processing times may vary based on the number of applications received, and you might even find yourself attending a few interviews along the way.

2. Applying for a T13 Work Permit and PR Visa with Citizenship and Immigration Canada:

Once you have that New Brunswick nomination, it’s time to dive into the next stages. You’ll need to submit an application for a work permit directly with the Canadian government. Simultaneously, for that coveted permanent residency, you’ll be applying for a PR visa through the Canadian IRCC with Citizenship and Immigration Canada.

Remember, meeting the legal requirements for medical, security, and criminal entry clearance is crucial for you, your spouse, and dependents. It’s worth noting that there’s no guarantee of approval for your PR application, as the final authority rests with the IRCC. So, buckle up for the journey ahead!

Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, has announced that Express Entry draws for all programs are expected to resume by first week of July 2022. This would include draws under the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and Canadian Experience Class (CEC). IRCC also targets to keep the service back on track to the usual six months processing times. The most recent draw for FSWP and FSTP was on December of 2020 while CEC draw was last held on September 2021.

What does this mean for you?

This is certainly good news to foreign workers who are planning to immigrate to Canada. Now that Invitations to Apply (ITA) for Permanent Residency will soon reopen, there will be a better chance of successfully moving to the country.

What can you do to prepare?

If you have not entered the Express Entry pool, now is a good time to begin. Complete the requirements and start creating your profile at the IRCC website. Depending on the category you would like to apply under, there are minimum requirements you need to meet. You will also need a language exam result that is less than two years and an Education Credential Assessment (ECA) that is less than 5 years.

Nohproblem Consulting can help you with your application.
