LMIA Approved in Record Time! How This Applicant Beat the 100-Day Average and What You Need to Know About New Immigration Rules!

Hello, this is NohProblem Consulting!
Today, we’d like to share with you the latest success story of an LMIA approval from BC.

Shall we take a look together?

2024-08-07 : LMIA paperwork completed
2024-10-10 : Approval letter received
The LMIA was approved in just 46 business days!

Considering that the average processing time for a PR stream LMIA reported by IRCC in 2024 is 100 business days, we can confirm that this approval was granted very quickly.

Now, all that’s left is for the applicant to safely obtain a work permit with the approved LMIA and start working.

Looking at the approval letter, the LMIA stream is for Permanent Resident, and it is valid until April 10, 2025. You will need to convert it to a 2-year work permit by then.

On September 26, it was announced that LMIA approvals for low-wage workers will be suspended, and there will also be restrictions on PR LMIA. Given this situation, we would like to share the solutions we can offer at this time.

Solutions proposed by the immigration lawyer:

  1. Find employers who haven’t applied for LMIA before
(Employers with foreign workers making up less than 10-20% of their workforce)
  2. Receive a job offer with a median wage or higher (for applicants)
Or, hire with a median wage or higher (for employers)
(Refer to the table below and ensure the job offer is above the median wage for your area.)
  1. Utilize government subsidies
In the case of ECE in BC, using government subsidies can push the wage above the high-wage threshold (for example, adding a $6 subsidy to a $23 wage results in a wage processed as high-wage, avoiding the impact of the new policy).
  2. Hire through a different PNP stream
  3. Apply for a work permit via programs like Young Professional or Working Holiday
  4. Obtain a work permit through co-op programs
  5. Prepare for LMIA while waiting for these tightened regulations to ease.

This is the most optimal solution we can suggest at this time.

Thank you for checking out the latest LMIA approval news from BC. As LMIA regulations tighten, it’s more important than ever to work with a consulting agency like NohProblem, which boasts a wide range of experience and a high approval rate.
