Let’s Break It Down! https://canada.nohproblem.com/why-has-canadas-express-entry-draw-been-silent-since-march-21-lets-break-it-down/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=why-has-canadas-express-entry-draw-been-silent-since-march-21-lets-break-it-down https://canada.nohproblem.com/why-has-canadas-express-entry-draw-been-silent-since-march-21-lets-break-it-down/#respond Fri, 11 Apr 2025 18:20:11 +0000 https://canada.nohproblem.com/?p=19156

If you’re waiting anxiously for the next Express Entry draw, you’re definitely not alone. Many candidates, immigration professionals, and hopeful families have been keeping a close eye on IRCC’s updates — but since March 21, 2025, it’s been surprisingly quiet.

Normally, Express Entry draws happen every two weeks. It’s a routine many of us rely on to time our applications, manage work permits, and plan the next steps toward permanent residency. The last draw was actually promising: 7,500 ITAs were issued, and the CRS cut-off was at 379, especially favouring candidates with strong French language skills. But after that? Silence.

So, what’s going on behind the scenes?

1. Technical Issues: CRS Score Shake-Up

One big change was IRCC removing the arranged employment points from the CRS calculation. Before, having a job offer added a healthy boost to your score. Now, the recalibration of thousands of profiles is no small task. Especially with IRCC reportedly increasing French language bonus points from 50 to 75, there’s a lot of math happening behind the curtain.

There have even been system hiccups, like PR portal invitations being sent under representatives’ names instead of applicants’! It’s likely they’ve hit pause to make sure everything’s running smoothly before resuming draws.

2. Politics: It’s Election Season

Yes — timing matters. With Canada in the middle of election campaigning, immigration is a hot topic. Public opinion is sensitive around issues like housing and job competition, and the government is probably cautious about making headlines like “Thousands of New PR Invitations Sent.” Most experts think we might not see a draw until after April 28, when the campaign tension eases.

3. New Policy Priorities for 2025

Earlier this year, IRCC announced new focus areas for Express Entry, like prioritizing certain occupations in education, healthcare, and skilled trades. To adjust the system for these new priorities, they need time. Algorithms, occupation lists, and internal checks all require updates to reflect Canada’s labour market demands accurately.

4. Admin Check-Ups

Sometimes, it’s not political or technical — it’s simply operational. With a system as complex as Express Entry, regular audits, security updates, and platform maintenance are essential. If IRCC is preparing for a larger-than-usual applicant load, this quiet period could just be a deep breath before a busy season.

5. Strategic Immigration Planning

Lastly, the timing of draws might be aligning with Canada’s broader immigration goals. For 2025, Canada aims to welcome 395,000 permanent residents, focusing on programs like the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) or Canadian Experience Class (CEC). This means IRCC could be adjusting their strategies to meet both economic needs and public expectations.

What Should You Do Now?

This pause is understandably stressful, especially for candidates with work permits expiring or CRS scores just below the last cut-off. But this isn’t the time to wait passively!

✔ Enhance your profile: Retake your language tests, update your work history, or consider provincial nominations for that extra 600-point boost.
✔ Stay informed: Follow IRCC updates and immigration news closely. When draws resume, they might be more competitive than ever.
✔ Explore alternative pathways: Don’t overlook PNP streams and employer-driven programs while waiting for Express Entry to reopen.

Remember, immigration is a long game, and preparation is your biggest advantage.

When Express Entry resumes, you’ll want to be at the front of the line — ready, confident, and competitive.

Navigating Canada’s Immigration Pathways: Your Guide to Express Entry and Provincial Nominee Programs https://canada.nohproblem.com/navigating-canadas-immigration-pathways-your-guide-to-express-entry-and-provincial-nominee-programs/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=navigating-canadas-immigration-pathways-your-guide-to-express-entry-and-provincial-nominee-programs https://canada.nohproblem.com/navigating-canadas-immigration-pathways-your-guide-to-express-entry-and-provincial-nominee-programs/#respond Tue, 08 Apr 2025 17:28:10 +0000 https://canada.nohproblem.com/?p=19127 Canada is a popular destination for skilled workers, students, and those seeking to reunite with family members. With a variety of immigration programs available, it’s essential to understand which pathway suits your needs. This guide will explore Canada’s Express Entry system and Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP), offering key insights for your immigration journey.

A Fast-Track to Canadian Permanent Residency The Express Entry system is a popular route for skilled workers to apply for permanent residency in Canada. By creating a profile, candidates are ranked based on factors like age, education, work experience, and language proficiency. If you meet the criteria, you may receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residency.
Key Components of Express Entry:

  1. Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS): This system awards points based on your profile. The higher your score, the better your chances of receiving an ITA.
  2. Federal Skilled Worker Program: Ideal for skilled professionals with relevant work experience.
  3. Canadian Experience Class: For those with work experience in Canada.
  4. Federal Skilled Trades Program: Designed for individuals skilled in specific trades.

Provinces Nominee Programs (PNP): A Path for Regional Immigrants Canada’s provinces and territories have their own immigration programs, known as Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP). These programs are tailored to meet regional labor market needs. If you receive a nomination from a province, it can significantly boost your chances of obtaining permanent residency.

Key Features of PNPs:

  1. Tailored to Local Needs: Each province has unique criteria based on its labor market needs.
  2. Boost to CRS Score: Provincial nominations add 600 points to your CRS score, virtually guaranteeing an ITA.
  3. Flexibility: Many PNPs offer streams for skilled workers, students, entrepreneurs, and family members.

Eligibility Requirements and Documents: To apply under these programs, candidates typically need to prove their qualifications, including:

  • Language proficiency (IELTS, CELPIP, or TEF)
  • Educational credentials (ECA report)
  • Work experience (with relevant documentation)

Proof of funds to support your settlement in Canada

Both Express Entry and PNPs offer viable routes for skilled workers, families, and students aiming to make Canada their home. By understanding the specific requirements and optimizing your profile, you can enhance your chances of a successful application.

2025 Express Entry Reform: Canada’s Focus On Skilled Workers To Tackle Labour Shortages In Healthcare, Trades, And Education https://canada.nohproblem.com/2025-express-entry-reform-canadas-focus-on-skilled-workers-to-tackle-labour-shortages-in-healthcare-trades-and-education/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=2025-express-entry-reform-canadas-focus-on-skilled-workers-to-tackle-labour-shortages-in-healthcare-trades-and-education https://canada.nohproblem.com/2025-express-entry-reform-canadas-focus-on-skilled-workers-to-tackle-labour-shortages-in-healthcare-trades-and-education/#respond Fri, 28 Feb 2025 01:26:06 +0000 https://canada.nohproblem.com/?p=18793 The Express Entry system in Canada is evolving to meet the country’s labour shortages and support economic growth. On February 27, 2025, the Government of Canada announced significant updates to Express Entry, introducing category-based selection to invite candidates who meet specific needs in key sectors like healthcare, trades, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), agriculture, and education. These changes aim to ensure that Canada attracts skilled workers who can contribute to the workforce and strengthen the economy.

What is Category-Based Selection in Express Entry?

Category-based selection in Express Entry allows Canada to invite candidates who meet certain economic goals based on specific categories chosen by the Minister of Immigration. These categories include factors like:

  • Language proficiency (e.g., French-language skills)
  • Work experience in key occupations like healthcare, trades, STEM, agriculture, and education
  • Educational qualifications

In category-based rounds, candidates must not only meet the Express Entry program criteria (such as Federal Skilled Worker, Federal Skilled Trades, or Canadian Experience Class) but also meet the specific category requirements to receive an invitation to apply for permanent residence.

How Does Category-Based Selection Work?

The process begins with creating an online Express Entry profile in your IRCC secure account. Once in the pool, candidates will be ranked based on their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. The categories will be chosen based on labour market projections and feedback from provinces, territories, and other stakeholders. If you meet the criteria for one of the categories, you’ll be invited to apply for permanent residence through Express Entry.

Here’s a breakdown of the steps:

  1. Create an Express Entry Profile: Submit your profile through the IRCC secure account.
  2. Eligibility: Ensure you’re eligible for one of the programs under Express Entry (Federal Skilled Worker, Federal Skilled Trades, or Canadian Experience Class).
  3. CRS Score: Your profile will be given a score based on factors like age, education, work experience, and language proficiency.
  4. Category Selection: Based on the country’s needs, the Minister will select certain categories to target and invite the highest-ranking candidates in those categories.
  5. Invitation to Apply: If you are selected, you’ll receive an invitation to apply for permanent residency. You will have 60 days to submit your full application.
  6. Application Decision: Your application will be assessed for eligibility, category fit, and admissibility to Canada.

Current Categories in Express Entry

To meet labour market needs, Canada is prioritizing candidates in the following categories:

  • French-language proficiency: Candidates with strong French skills are in demand.
  • Healthcare and social services occupations: This includes workers such as nurses, physicians, dentists, and psychologists.
  • STEM occupations: Candidates with backgrounds in science, technology, engineering, and math are highly sought after.
  • Trade occupations: Skilled workers in carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work are needed.
  • Agriculture and agri-food occupations: There’s a demand for workers in food production and farming.
  • Education occupations: This includes teachers, childcare educators, and those working with individuals with disabilities.

Why Is This Change Important?

The introduction of category-based selection in Express Entry is designed to address specific labour shortages in critical sectors such as healthcare, construction, and education. By focusing on in-demand fields, Canada aims to bring in skilled professionals who will help fill these essential roles, strengthening the economy and supporting long-term growth.

In addition, the government is committed to increasing Francophone immigration outside Quebec to ensure Francophone communities thrive across the country. The Express Entry system now offers a more targeted approach to meet the country’s evolving needs.

What Should You Do Now?

If you’re interested in immigrating to Canada, it’s crucial to stay updated on the Express Entry changes. Ensure that your language skills are up to the required standard (especially for French if applicable), and make sure your qualifications and work experience align with one of the priority categories.

  • Prepare your documents: Have your language test results, education credentials, and work experience ready.
  • Create your Express Entry profile: If you haven’t already, make sure your profile is up to date in the IRCC secure account.
  • Monitor category announcements: Stay informed about which categories are being prioritized and adjust your application strategy accordingly.

The 2025 Express Entry changes are an exciting opportunity for skilled workers, particularly in healthcare, trades, and education, to secure a permanent residency spot in Canada. Keep checking for updates, stay proactive, and take the next step toward building your future in Canada!

Temporary Residents Beware: Canada’s New Immigration Reforms Explained https://canada.nohproblem.com/temporary-residents-beware-canadas-new-immigration-reforms-explained/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=temporary-residents-beware-canadas-new-immigration-reforms-explained https://canada.nohproblem.com/temporary-residents-beware-canadas-new-immigration-reforms-explained/#respond Thu, 28 Nov 2024 00:03:19 +0000 https://canada.nohproblem.com/?p=18687 Hello! This is NohProblem Consulting, your trusted local Canadian immigration agency.

On November 25, Canada’s Immigration Minister, Marc Miller, announced that additional reforms to Canada’s immigration and asylum systems would be proposed in the coming weeks.

In October, the federal government released its 2025-2027 Immigration Plan, which revealed a reduction in overall immigration targets by about 20% compared to figures announced in 2023.

Under this plan:

  • Canada is expected to see a 0.2% population decline in 2025 and 2026,
  • Followed by a 0.8% population growth in 2027.

The reduction reflects efforts to lower the share of temporary residents in Canada’s total population from 7% to 5% by the end of 2026. Considering measures announced last year to reduce the temporary resident population:

  • Canada’s temporary population is expected to decrease by:
    ✔445,901 in 2025
    ✔445,662 in 2026
  • And increase by 17,439 in 2027.

Marc Miller also highlighted inefficiencies in the current asylum and refugee processing system.

  • The average processing time for refugee and asylum applications is 44 months.
  • As of September, there were 250,000 pending applications, and only 48,000 applications have been processed since January 2024.

“Becoming a permanent resident is not a right. Becoming a Canadian citizen is not a right.”
Marc Miller, Immigration Minister of Canada

Miller further mentioned that 40% of new permanent residents will be selected from people already residing in Canada. This aligns with the government’s prior announcement of a focus on temporary residents already in the country, offering good news for those currently living in Canada.

Now is the time to act! Preparing your language tests and creating an Express Entry profile quickly is essential to staying ahead.

NohProblem Consulting is here to help.

Are you considering studying in Canada? Whether you’re looking for a high-quality education, a multicultural environment, or the chance to work and live in one of the world’s most beautiful countries, Canada is an excellent choice. In today’s blog, we’ll dive into some useful tips to help you succeed in your educational journey in Canada, all while showcasing how NohProblem Consulting can support you every step of the way.

Why Study in Canada?

Canada is not just known for its vast natural beauty; it’s also home to some of the world’s best educational institutions. From prestigious universities to specialized colleges, Canada offers a wide variety of programs and degrees to fit every student’s needs. More importantly, the Canadian education system is student-centered, focusing on offering flexibility, diversity, and a safe, welcoming atmosphere for international students.

But studying in Canada isn’t just about academics—it’s also about gaining exposure to a global community, experiencing different cultures, and fostering connections that will last a lifetime. And of course, many students who graduate in Canada choose to make it their permanent home, thanks to pathways like the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), which allows graduates to stay in Canada and gain work experience.

Steps to Prepare for Studying in Canada

Planning to study abroad is an exciting but detailed process. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you stay organized:

  1. Research Your Program and School
Before applying, make sure you fully understand the programs, institutions, and the qualifications you need to meet. Canada offers a wide range of options, from undergraduate degrees to postgraduate diplomas, and each has its unique requirements.
  2. Language Proficiency Tests
A key part of studying in Canada is proving your English or French proficiency. Standardized tests like IELTS, TOEFL, CELPIP, and even online options like Duolingo are essential for university admissions. With the right preparation, you can ace these tests and increase your chances of acceptance.
  3. Apply for a Study Permit
Once you’ve been accepted by a recognized educational institution, you’ll need a study permit to begin your studies in Canada. The process can be complicated, but with the right guidance, it can be smooth and stress-free.
  4. Plan Your Finances
Studying abroad requires financial preparation. Tuition fees, living expenses, and travel costs can add up, so it’s essential to have a solid financial plan. Canada also offers scholarships and work-study options for international students.
  5. Prepare for Life in Canada
Canada’s diverse cities offer a mix of cultures and lifestyles, and each region has its unique vibe. Whether you’re heading to vibrant Toronto, historic Montreal, or the natural beauty of Vancouver, make sure you’re prepared for the climate, culture, and lifestyle.

Strategies for Improving Your Language Skills

A vital part of adapting to life in Canada is improving your language proficiency. English is the primary language in most Canadian institutions, so enhancing your English skills is crucial. Make use of practice tests, language exchange programs, and online resources to prepare for your exams. NohProblem Consulting is here to help you navigate this journey, providing guidance and resources to help you succeed.

Work and Immigration Opportunities

As an international student, you don’t just get the chance to study; you also have opportunities to work while studying. In fact, after you graduate, Canada offers several pathways for international students to stay and work, including the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP). This opens doors to full-time work experience, which can be a great stepping stone to permanent residency in Canada.

At NohProblem Consulting, we specialize in helping students transition from study to work and beyond. We’ve helped countless students gain work permits, apply for permanent residency, and make their Canadian dreams come true.

Canada’s New Immigration Plan Revealed: What You Need to Know for 2025-2027! https://canada.nohproblem.com/canadas-new-immigration-plan-revealed-what-you-need-to-know-for-2025-2027/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=canadas-new-immigration-plan-revealed-what-you-need-to-know-for-2025-2027 https://canada.nohproblem.com/canadas-new-immigration-plan-revealed-what-you-need-to-know-for-2025-2027/#respond Fri, 25 Oct 2024 21:56:39 +0000 https://canada.nohproblem.com/?p=18559 Hello, this is NohProblem Consulting.

Today, we will take a look at Canada’s newly announced 2025-2027 plan for temporary residents and immigrants over the next three years.

Canada’s 2025-2027 Temporary Resident Plan

Earlier, Canada announced a 10% reduction in the number of international students by 2025 compared to 2024. It also aims to maintain similar numbers for 2026 and 2027. Through this temporary resident plan, Canada aims to reduce the proportion of temporary residents in the total population from 7% to 5% by 2026.

Canada’s 2025-2027 Immigration Plan

Recently, Canada has reflected the concerns of its citizens regarding the continuous increase in immigration. As a result, it announced a reduction in the number of new immigrants for the 2025-2027 period. This decision aims to ease housing and social service pressures caused by rapid population growth, ensuring a more sustainable population increase. The revised target numbers for new immigrants are as follows:

This shows a 21% reduction from the 2023 target for new immigrants.

Reduction in the Number of Temporary Residents

The number of temporary residents will also be adjusted, with efforts to reduce their proportion in the total population from 7% to 5% by the end of 2026. Canada announced in September and last year that this reduction is necessary for the upcoming years. Compared to last year, the number of temporary residents in Canada is expected to decrease gradually:

✔ In 2025, a decrease of 445,901
✔ In 2026, a decrease of 445,66
✔ In 2027, an increase of 17,439 ▲

It is anticipated that over 40% of the 2025 immigration plan will focus on granting permanent residency to those who are already in Canada as students or workers. The government aims to support their transition to permanent residency status.

Long-Term Economic Growth

The goal of this immigration plan is to achieve long-term economic growth in Canada. Accordingly, the government is focused on increasing the proportion of economic immigrants, particularly in sectors such as healthcare and trade skills. By 2027, it is expected that 61.7% of economic immigrants will be skilled workers in these sectors.

French-Speaking Applicants

The immigration plan includes a focus on increasing the number of French-speaking immigrants:

✔ 8.5% in 2025
✔ 9.5% in 2026
✔ 10% in 2027

This is higher than the targets set in the 2024-2026 immigration plan, which aimed to increase the proportion of French speakers from 7% to 8%.

Detailed information on Canada’s 2025-2027 immigration plan can be found below through related images.

Canada’s population has increased over the past few years, reaching 41 million in 2024, and 98% of the population growth in 2023 was due to immigration. This new immigration plan anticipates a slight decrease of 0.2% in population growth in 2025 and 2026, followed by a return to 0.8% growth in 2027.

Today, we reviewed Canada’s newly announced 2025-2027 plan for temporary residents and immigrants.

While it is true that the overall number of immigrants will decrease, this plan seems to be more favorable for those who are already living in Canada as temporary residents and engaged in economic activities. It may not impact those who are currently preparing for immigration from abroad, such as from Korea, as much. Additionally, the existing permanent residency streams will not disappear.

As immigration and temporary resident restrictions tighten, we highly recommend preparing your immigration plan with a reliable immigration agency like NohProblem. By doing so, you can increase your chances of success. At NohProblem Consulting, we are committed to transparent and honest guidance, especially since the company was founded by someone who was once scammed by another agency during their own study abroad process. We aim to be a trustworthy and ethical partner throughout your immigration journey.
