What is BC PNP?

The general BC PNP (not EE BC PNP) can be considered a skilled immigration program, which is made up of six streams:

1. Skilled Worker
2. Health Professional
3. International Graduate
4. International Post-Graduate
5. Entry Level and Semi-Skilled
6. BC Tech

The BC PNP program is for positions that fall under NOC categories 0, A, and B, and requires:

At least 2 years of directly related work experience gained within the last 10 years
A permanent full-time job offer
English language scores
Proof of annual income based on the number of accompanying family members

This is an immigration program designed for applicants who can meet these criteria.

One advantage of BC PNP is that, unlike Express Entry, there is no age scoring. It also offers special streams for occupations like ECE, Healthcare, and Tech, making it a viable option for those in these fields.

BC PNP Graduate Stream Updates

On March 19, the provincial government announced updates to BC PNP, with further details released in August.

Starting in January 2025, the current International Graduate and International Post-Graduate programs for international students and graduates will be replaced by the following three streams:

Bachelor’s Stream
Master’s Stream
Doctorate Stream

Applicants will also need to demonstrate English proficiency with a CLB 8 score.

The submission process for the new Bachelor’s and Master’s Streams will begin in the second week of January 2025, while direct applications for the Doctorate Stream will also open in the same week.

BC has stated that these changes aim to provide better outcomes for applicants and offer clearer pathways for immigration.
